Recommendations should be detailed, candid and submitted on official letterhead where applicable.

The Academic Referee

Academic recommendation

From an MPhil supervisor, senior lecturer, dean, head of department or recognised academic who can assess the applicant’s intellectual ability, research capacity and readiness for doctoral study.

The Pastoral Referee

Pastoral recommendation

From a pastor, bishop, church leader or ministry head who can confirm the applicant’s Christian commitment, moral standing, service, humility and character.

The Professional Referee

Professional recommendation

From an employer, mentor, institutional leader or senior professional who can speak to the applicant’s discipline, reliability, work ethic, leadership potential and capacity for responsibility.
